Working Pennsylvanians Are Getting a New Tax Credit
This week, Senator Hughes was in Harrisburg to get the state budget passed. The Senate Republican budget impasse ended on Wednesday when state Senators and Representatives passed a bipartisan budget that delivered for affordability, education, community safety, jobs, and no tax increases.
The new state budget includes a new Working Pennsylvanians tax credit for working Pennsylvanians making less than $60,000 a year. Pennsylvanians will be able to file for the tax credit when they file their yearly state taxes.
Although the budget process took much longer than it needed to, Democrats were proud to deliver a budget that provides this tax credit that will put money back into people’s pockets.
Senator Hughes explained, “Most notably, we delivered on affordability. This budget includes a new tax credit that will impact almost one million Pennsylvanians. We’ve seen costs go up across the board and yet our federal government chooses to deny the affordability crisis Pennsylvanians and Americans are facing. This tax credit will provide some relief to hard working people who are getting crushed by high costs.
The fight was long, but Senator Hughes, Governor Shapiro, and state Democrats never gave up on fighting for students, seniors, and working families.
