West Philly Affordable Housing Update
We’re proud to share an update about a new affordable housing project in Mantua that is being supported by state investments Senator Hughes helped secure!
Earlier this summer, Habitat for Humanity broke ground on 4 new affordable homes that will be built and sold to first-time homebuyers. The housing units, located at 40th and Reno, will include 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, with one unit providing wheelchair accessibility.
“Housing is fundamental. Without a home, a safe and welcoming place to lay your head at night, it’s very difficult to maintain a job, get an education, and take care of a family. When we make affordable housing a priority, we set the stage for a domino effect of opportunity and upward progress in our neighborhoods.”
– Senator Hughes –
Every new home built by Habitat Philadelphia means a first-time homebuyer can access the opportunity to own a home and create strength, stability and self-reliance for themselves and their families. Habitat sells new homes with zero-interest mortgages to buyers making between 30-80% of the Area Median Income, creating equity and a foundation for families to thrive.
