January 4, 2025 – Philadelphia, PA – Senator Vincent Hughes shared the following statement in response to hateful and racist graffiti that was put on the Roxborough High School building late last night. 

“Hate has no home here. Every student, teacher, administrator, and family that is part of the Roxborough High community knows they are bigger than this cowardly act of hate. Time after time, this community has shown strength and grace in the face of tragedy and adversity. I know they will continue to uphold those same values despite this ugly demonstration of hate and racism.     

“This hate crime, meant to shake us and bring fear, will only serve as a reminder that Roxborough High School stands united. Whenever I visit Roxborough, I’m inspired by the learning, the support provided by the staff, and the ambition of the students. That’s what Roxborough High is really about.”
