Lt. Governor Austin Davis visits YEAH Philly as part of his statewide Safer Communities tour

Meeting with Youth Who are Addressing the Gun Violence Epidemic

Senator Hughes recently visited YEAH Philly to talk with young people about the important work they are doing to empower youth in their community and discourage gun violence.

The Black-led, grassroots non-profit works with teens ages 15 to 24 who have been impacted by violence. They meet teens where they are and are making a big impact in the fight to end gun violence in Philadelphia.

Earlier this year, Senator Hughes announced $105 million dollars for Pennsylvania community-based violence reduction efforts like YEAH Philly. The grants are intended to support neighborhood groups who are on the front lines addressing community violence.

“We know the work of so many great groups in our community and across the commonwealth is making a significant difference in the ongoing push to stop and prevent gun violence, get our young and at-risk people off the streets, and provide safe and healthy alternatives to a life of crime.”
