HARRISBURG, October 16, 2012 –State Sen. Vincent Hughes will join with Tom Joyner of the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” to host Take a Loved One to the Doctor (TALOTTD), a community health and wellness event aimed at promoting health and wellness in the African-American community.
The event will be held on October 19 and 20 at Philadelphia’s Liacouras Center on Temple University campus along North Broad Street.

We must continue to raise awareness about health and wellness in the African-American community and encourage our loved ones to be proactive about their health by making appointments to visit health professionals.”TALOTTD kicks off at 6 a.m. on Friday, October 19 with a live broadcast of the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The event will include live musical performances and interviews from today’s top health experts. The health festival will open at 9 a.m. on both October 19 and 20, offering attendees FREE dental and medical screenings, as well as tips on fitness, nutrition, beauty, and health related college and career recruitment.
Hughes added that there will be 1,000 free health screenings offered to event attendees. Walgreens will also offer free flu shots.

“My staff and I have worked diligently with Tom Joyner and his staff, as well as Radio One Philadelphia and various other stakeholders to plan and implement this targeted campaign to raise health awareness in the community. 12:00 p.m. – Panelist at “State of Our Black Health” Town Hall Forum
Additionally, Sheryl Lee Ralph will serve as a panelist for the “Women’s Health Seminar” at 3 p.m.
