Sen. Hughes delivers $1 million state grant to Philadelphia Youth Basketball
Investment will help provide hope, opportunities to young people
I recently presented at $1 million state development grant check to our friends at Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB), which is going to support The Alan Horwitz ‘Sixth Man’ Center Powered and Operated by PYB.
This amazing project will have a tremendous impact on our community when it opens in 2022. I worked with Gov. Tom Wolf to advocate for this funding in a highly competitive process and look forward to having this center in North Philadelphia.
This investment in our youth, is a way to push back against the lack of hope that breeds the growing gun violence in our city. PYB has helped positively shape the lives of our young people for a number of years and this project is yet another testament to its commitment to reaching children through basketball, as well as in helping fill an important role in developing future leaders.
