Our people need help Call Sen. Pat Toomey and demand he support the HEROES Act

Dial 202-224-3121 today and make your voice heard

It has been nearly three weeks since the first round of federal COVID-19 relief measures and protections have expired. Negotiations on a much-needed second round of relief have stalled and the U.S. Senate continues to hold the HEROES (Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions) Act hostage.

Rather than take up the $3 trillion plan, the Senate Republicans are advocating for an $1 trillion plan called the Health, Economic Assistance, Liability Protection and Schools (HEALS) Act. This plan is insufficient and does not do enough to help provide relief to those who have lost their jobs, to help safely reopen schools, to help our small businesses rebound or to keep state and local governments running.

The New York Times and USA Today have breakdowns of the massive gulf between the two plans. The $2 trillion difference in the aid proposals will have huge impact on how our our communities recover from this pandemic. That is why it is critical we get support for the HEROES Act.

We cannot afford to wait. Call Sen. Pat Toomey at 202-224-3121 and tell him to support the HEROES Act now!

Heroes Act

Here is a reminder of what the HEROES Act would help our communities:

  • Extends $600 per week unemployment payments through January 2021
  • Second round of economic impact or stimulus payments
  • Expands food assistance for children and families
  • Hazard pay for essential workers
  • Small business assistance
  • COVID-19 testing and contract tracing funding
  • Student Loan forgiveness
  • Aid for our schools and local governments

These critical provisions and so much more are necessary for our people, our communities, our public health and our economy. Again, tell Sen. Toomey to support our people and the HEROES Act. Call 202-224-3121 and make your voice heard.

REMINDER: Pennsylvania is in the Green Phase, but we still need you to wear your masks when you go into businesses and may interact with large groups of people. It is critical we take the necessary steps to continue to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.
