Earlier this week, the former First Lady announced her plans to travel across the US to register voters ahead of the 2018 midterms. “There’s too much at stake to sit on the sidelines, not just in this election but in every election, and we need your help right now,” Obama said in a new video. August 7th is Equal Pay Day for African American women. Each year, Equal Pay Day for All is held in April, but when we look at the wage gap for women of color, the gap is far greater. When compared to all men, women earn $.79 (cents) on the $1. When compared to White, non-Hispanic men, Black/African American women earn only $.69 (cents) on the $1. This means the typical Black woman must work until August 2018 to be paid what the typical White man was paid at the end of December 2017.
