PA CARES

Our friends with the Philadelphia Community Stakeholders (PCS) have a new and exciting opportunity for students and parents affected by COVID-19 right in the 7th Senatorial District.

PCS is opening its Learning Pod and Resource center in the near future. The Learning Pod and Resource Center will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bible Way Baptist Church (1323 N. 52nd Street) and can serve up to 30 children from grades K-5.

Here is what is being offered at the Learning Pod and Resource Center:

  • Adult supervision and support for virtual learning
  • Supplemental lessons and activities
  • Effective and engaging use of technology
  • Parent Help Desk & Referral Service
  • Mental and behavioral health counseling
  • Free meals and snacks

PCS is a network of Black community leaders, business leaders, union leaders, elected officials, and concerned citizens convened a group of experienced educators to develop a community-led education recovery plan that adds a “web of support” around Philadelphia’s Black children impacted by the extended closure of schools. The group is led by Sandra Dungee Glenn, former Chairperson of the School Reform Commission and current member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education.

The PCS Learning Pod and Parent Resource Center will provide:

  • Instructional support for virtual learning
  • Supplemental lessons and activities to close learning gaps by experienced instructors
  • Effective and engaging use of technology
  • Parent Help Desk & Referral Service
  • Mental and behavioral health counseling – by appointment

Finally, PCS is also hiring a site director, program coordinator and instructors for the learning pods and parent resource center. You can apply today here or email info@pcslearningpods.com for more info.
