Investing in Our Youth Through Sports in North Philadelphia

Key state official visits ‘West Philly’s Main Street’ to chart a path forward

Continuing his focus on reinvesting in communities to revitalize neighborhoods, Senator Hughes guided a $2.5 million state investment to Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB) for the development of the Alan Horwitz Sixth Man Center.  Last week, along with State Representative Darisha Parker and Numa St. Louis of Congressman Dwight Evans office, Senator Hughes presented a mock check to the staff, board and volunteers of the PYB.

Once completed, the 100,000 sq. ft center in North Philadelphia will help thousands of kids and hundreds of emerging adult leaders throughout the Philadelphia region grab hold of and transform their lives in positive ways.
