Harrisburg, Jan. 28, 2016 – A renovated ball field, smoother walkways and new landscaping are headed to Roxborough’s Gorgas Park with the awarding of a $188,000 state grant, Sen. Vincent Hughes announced today.

The investment is from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and comes in the form of a Community Conservation Partnership Program grant, or C2P2.

“From the harvest festival to the summer concerts, Gorgas Park offers something to enjoy for just about everyone,” Sen. Hughes said. “Soon, it will be even better for everyone to visit.

“Our quality of life improves when we have great outdoor spaces to enjoy. Gorgas Park is one of these community jewels and I am grateful for the local efforts to make sure this grant was approved so work can begin soon.”

Hughes said the $188,000 grant will help to pay for the construction of stormwater management structures, a pedestrian walkway and parking area; renovation of the ball field; installation of fencing; ADA access, landscaping, site amenities, project sign and other related site improvements.

DCNR awarded $28 million in C2P2 grants today.
