Philadelphia, PA, Mayo 17, 2013 – On Viernes, Mayo 17, 2013 from 7:30 AM to 1 PM, State Senator Vincent Hughes and Haddington Multi Services for Older Adults Inc. will present the Unleash the Power of Age expo at the Salvation Army Kroc Center located at 4200 Wissahickon Ave. The event will include a day filled with activities and information geared at people aged 50 and older as well as caretakers. Activities include: a host of informative workshops, healthy cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, resource fair, crisis center, health screenings, zumba, and line dancing classes.  

“People are now living longer and more active lives. The best way to ensure maximizing your quality of life is preparation”, commented Senator Hughes. “One of our primary goals with this event is to provide access to information and resources to assist people 50 and older and their dedicated network of family members and caretakers.”

A host of corporate good neighbors and community organizations will participate in the event, including: Keystone Mercy Health Plan, Comcast and the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. Thomas Jefferson School of Pharmacy will be on hand offering health screenings, including: BMI, blood sugar and blood pressure.  They will also engage attendees with distribution of educational materials on topics such as Diabetes and Heart Disease plus other games and activities. Additionally, Career Link will host a “Career Corner” and cover topics such as resume writing, mastering the online job search and more.
