Philadelphia — Enero 10, 2019 —Today, State Senators Art Haywood (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) and Vincent Hughes (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) announced the award of grant funding from the Department of Labor and Industry for Business Education Partnerships across their districts.

The Business Education Partnership of Montgomery County was awarded $87,975 and the Philadelphia Workforce Development Board was awarded $120,000 to provide career-related experiences and development opportunities through soft-skills development, internships, workplace shadowing, and career mentoring, all with the goal of engaging more students in acquiring the technical skills needed by employers.

“I am thankful to Governor Wolf and the Department of Labor and Industry for providing this funding to the district,” Sen. Haywood said. “Through these grants, we can help our technical students succeed through proper training and fill a number of open positions in the jobs pipeline.”

“Grants like this help give our children the training and skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce,” Sen. Hughes said. “It is important to continue to prepare our students and improve their opportunities to learn relevant job skills through programs such as these. Thank you to Gov. Tom Wolf and the administration for this tremendous investment in our youth in the district.”

These grants were fully federally funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act.
