HARRISBURG – Junio 7, 2018 – State Senator Vincent J. Hughes (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) thanked Gov. Tom Wolf and the Borough of Conshohocken for helping keep AmerisourceBergen in Montgomery County and prioritizing jobs for the 7th District.
AmerisourceBergen, a global health care solutions provider and Fortune 12 Company, announced it is expanding its headquarters in Conshohocken. This will create more than 550 new jobs, which could have been lost to competing states, especially New Jersey.
“AmerisourceBergen remaining in and expanding its footprint in Montgomery County is wonderful news,” Senator Hughes said. “Our office worked closely with the governor’s office to keep AmerisourceBergen in the district. The 550 jobs in IT, management, accounting and human resources will boost the economy in Montgomery County and Pennsylvania will keep 1,900-plus existing jobs because of this decision.”
The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) created $1,659,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits to be distributed upon the creation of new jobs. The proposal also includes an $8 million grant from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) to assist with facility development and construction costs.
“The company had been considering other locations for its expansion,” Senator Hughes said. “New Jersey offered substantially more incentives, but AmerisourceBergen decided on Pennsylvania because of collaborative efforts to find incentives for the company. We’re more than happy with this outcome.”
Gov. Wolf, in a news release, also pointed to location, strong business climate and the state’s workforce as reasons AmerisourceBergen chose the commonwealth. AmerisourceBergen will combine two of its offices located in Conshohocken and Chesterbrook and relocate both offices into a new, 400,000-sqare-foot facility in Conshohocken to serve as the new headquarters. The company has committed to investing at least $29.5 million into the project, which is also expected to spur further redevelopment and job creation in Conshohocken.
AmerisourceBergen is a pharmaceutical wholesale distributor that provides value-driving services and business solutions that improve access to care. The company was formed in 2001 following the merger of Amerisource Health Corporation and Bergen Brunswig Corporation, and employs more than 21,000 employees at more than 150 locations across the globe.
