Senador Vincent Hughes

“As a longtime advocate for gun safety in Pennsylvania, I am heartened to hear Senate Judiciary Committee Chairwoman Lisa Baker’s willingness to hold public hearings to address gun violence and find effective remedies to protect our communities. I am hopeful the Senate Judiciary Committee strongly considers Senate Bill 88, which would bring universal background checks to the commonwealth. Expanding and strengthening background checks has strong bipartisan support in Pennsylvania and across the U.S. and the time is now to get this done. I am also hopeful that the Senate Judiciary Committee will consider other commonsense proposals that have been introduced with bipartisan support. I thank Senator Baker for her interest in addressing these issues. We must be proactive in addressing these issues for the safety of our citizens.”
