Republicans Voted for the Biggest Cut to Healthcare in American History
The Republican Big, Ugly Bill includes huge cuts to healthcare, food assistance, and student loan support…and a big tax handout for the wealthiest in our country.

In late Mayo, Republicans in Washington voted to move forward with what they are calling a “Big, Beautiful Bill” to make massive cuts to healthcare, food assistance, student loan support, good paying jobs, and a lot more. Everything about this bill is ugly, including that the cuts are being used to provide the richest in our country a huge tax giveaway.
This Republican plan is literally taking from the 99% to give to the 1%.

No state has the capacity to cover the devastation of these cuts. Visit our website to learn more about what’s included in the big, ugly bill.

When We Fight, We Win

Senator Hughes is not backing down on this fight. He’s doing everything he can at the state level to sound the alarm and push back against these disastrous cuts.
On Lunes, he joined Democratic colleagues from the Senate and House to continue speaking out against the big ugly bill.

Senator Hughes said:
We are part of a coalition of state legislators from across the country who are calling out the big, ugly bill and the damage it will do to our constituents. There is no state in the country who has the capacity to cover the cuts that are included in this bill.
The United States is the richest country in the world. We should be having a conversation about how to expand healthcare, education support, food support for families, and jobs that pay better wages, but instead we’re forced to talk about this big, ugly bill.
Pennsylvania’s elected Senators and Representatives, Republicans and Democrats alike, have a responsibility to condemn the cuts in this bill. It’s time for our state Republican colleagues to speak up. It’s time for them to join Democrats in calling out the impact these cuts will have on Pennsylvania families and communities. At this critical inflection point, every single Pennsylvania legislator should be working together to stop these cuts, regardless of our party affiliation.
