Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Lunes, Enero 15.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to crusading against injustice and helping others. We should honor Dr. King’s memory by taking time out of our schedules to volunteer to help those in need.”

I am often reminded that Dr. King once said, “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.”

Martin Luther King Jr. Day serves as a reminder that volunteering and participating in community events is important and contributions can be made through group or individual activities.

“Volunteering in the local community is an amazing way to honor the work and legacy of this great American. I hope those who are able can join me in finding time to give back to the community in memory of Dr. King and continue his teachings of equality, justice and love.”

Philadelphia food banks, churches, schools and senior centers have begun preparing service projects for this day of volunteering. Information on local opportunities and events for Martin Luther King Jr. Day is available at Sen. Hughes’ district office. Check out some events below.
