Dispose of unused prescriptions, medications and other drugs safely

April 24 its National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Drug Take Back Day

In recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 24, I am partnering with Gateway Health, Town Watch, the Philadelphia Police Department, Shop Rite of Parkside and the Parkside Association of Philadelphia to help you safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.

You can drop off the medications between 10 a.m. and noon outside of ShopRite of Parkside. The take back location will accept medications listed on the flyer above, so please make sure you are complying with the take back guidelines.

Keeping unused medications around your home is a public health and safety crisis. Officials say disposing of prescription drugs can help save lives, specifically preventing pediatric fatalities and opioid overdoses. Please take a few minutes to check your home for unused prescriptions and safely dispose of them Saturday.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:

We are still in the middle of the pandemic, and while there is light at the end of the tunnel, we must remain vigilant in fighting back against this virus until we reach our public health goals and a new normal. You can do your part in the #StopTheVirus campaign by doing these three things: Get a mask, get the test, get the vaccine.
