Pennsylvania’s #NewDeal4NewPA starts with increasing access to affordable housing

Quality, affordable housing is out of reach for so many Pennsylvanians. The National Low Income Housing Coalition ranks Pennsylvania 24th out of 50 states for access to affordable housing because many residents cannot afford quality housing at 30 percent or less of their total income. The problem is worse in Senator Hughes home city of Philadelphia where nearly have of the city’s residents are renters and the a more than a quarter of the population lives below the poverty line.

The Senator is working on comprehensive housing policies that would fundamentally transform the way Pennsylvania addresses housing issues across the state. Sen. Hughes continues to work with advocates to address housing affordability and fairness issues as a part of his #NewDeal4NewPA, which aims to create policy that puts the people first.
