Harrisburg, PA − November 14, 2018 – Democratic members of the Pennsylvania Senate reelected Senator Vincent Hughes (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) as the Democratic chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

“It is an honor to again be selected to represent the Senate Democrats as the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee,” Sen. Hughes said. “I am thankful for the support of my colleagues and I look forward to another term in this role. So many of the important decisions in our commonwealth are tied to the budget and I respect the importance of my position. I will continue to push for progressive values and a budget that proactively fights for the needs of the people of Pennsylvania.”

Sen. Hughes has served as the Democratic Chairman of the Senate Appropriations committee since 2011. In this role, Sen. Hughes steers state spending priorities and ensures the annual budget of more than $32 billion effectively supports all residents of the commonwealth. While chairman, Sen. Hughes has been a champion for increasing funding for public education and economic development issues across the state, among many other progressive initiatives.
