PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 8, 2017 — To celebrate the relocation of his Philadelphia district office, state Sen. Vincent Hughes, along with his wife Sheryl Lee Ralph, his staff and the City Ave Special Services District, invites the community to an upcoming Neighborhood Block Party with a Purpose, which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the senator’s district office at 2401 N. 54th St. in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia.

From 9 a.m. to noon, constituents are invited to tour the office, speak with the senator and his staff and participate in a free document shredding event.

From noon to 5 p.m., there will be resource tables and family-friendly activities and entertainment, including a health and wellness station, organizations with information about civic and community engagement, Kids Zone, Sassy Seniors Pavilion, food, live music, line dancing and more.

Other community partners include AmeriHealth Caritas, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Health Partners Plans, Keystone First PA and United Healthcare Community Plan.

“The strength of a community lies in our ability to connect with each other, to work together and to stay informed and involved,” said Hughes (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery). “This event is a block party with a purpose. It’s an opportunity for folks to celebrate the grand opening of our newly relocated office, talk to me and my staff, gain access to valuable information and enjoy a fun-filled day out in the community with their neighbors and friends. I welcome everyone to join us.”
