MLK Legacy in Action

April 4 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

MLK Day of Action

April 4, 2019 is the 51st anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – to mark this occasion, Senator Hughes is one of four members of the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus hosting events across the state to honor King’s legacy.

King was killed in Memphis, Tennessee where he had traveled to stand with sanitation workers, as he launched his Poor People’s Campaign across the U.S.

Senator Hughes and his colleagues in the Senate are announcing a statewide Call to Action on the Crisis of Poverty and Economic Insecurity on April 4. After the event, Senator Hughes will go to nearby Chosen 300 Ministries (3959 Lancaster Street), for a brief worship service and to work with the homeless ministries.
