ALERT: Flood Victims in Louisiana Need Your Help! 

Hello,  

The state of Louisiana has been hit by historic levels of flooding and is experiencing one of the worst natural disasters in recent history. Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced out of their homes and into temporary shelters. Millions of dollars in property has been destroyed. It will take many years for the affected areas to recover. 

American Red CrossPlease take a moment to make a donation to help flood victims. The American Red Cross is spearheading much of the relief efforts. Click here to make a donation to the American Red Cross.

You can also learn more by visiting the website of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This is the official arm of the federal government which helps people deal with disasters.

Heavy flooding in Louisiana has left 13 people dead and damaged an estimated 40,000 houses, leading the Red Cross to call it the worst natural disaster since Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

Some 86,500 people have already filed for federal aid, and on Friday Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton made her own plea on Facebook for additional support.

How to help Louisiana flood victims

(CNN) Impact Your World has identified charities providing support for the victims of the most recent historic flooding in Louisiana.

The Salvation Army is sending out support personnel, setting up canteens (mobile feeding units), and distributing hygiene kits. You can volunteer or donate money to the Salvation Army's Gulf Coast fund to help the cause.
