The Philadelphia Self-Help and Resource Exchange, SHARE provides nutritious
food to a network of 550 food cupboards and 250 host organizations each month. SHARE
serves as the lead agency in Philadelphia County for the State Food Purchase Program and the
Emergency Food Assistance program (TEFAP), which utilize state and federal funding to
provide food each month to food cupboards in Pennsylvania. SHARE administers
Philadelphia's Farm to Families Program. Nice Roots Farm recently added two
high tunnels which allow SHARE to produce food and educate volunteers and
community members on the process of growing food.
Party with a Purpose
Since 1997, Senator Vincent Hughes and his staff
have hosted a holiday party to lift up the true
meaning of the season “The Spirit of Giving.” With the recent devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy
along the east coast, we believe that, now more than ever,
there is a true need to make sure those families and many
others do not go hungry, so we partner with SHARE
to raise awareness of this issue and encourage our families,
friends, neighbors and colleagues to support SHARE
by helping to stock their cupboards so that they can
continue to feed folks in our community.
You can find out more specifics about the Holiday Party with a Purpose and SHARE and provide your feedback on my website at senatorhughes.com as well as on Facebook and Twitter (@SenatorHughes).
