Online Housing Locator is Available to Help Those Displaced by Hurricane Sandy
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Pennsylvanians who have been displaced from their homes due to damage from the storm are encouraged to visit www.PAHousingSearch.com to help them find quick, available rental housing.
There is no cost for this service. Those without internet service can call 1-877-428-8844 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to find safe housing.
PAHousingSearch.com is a valuable service that has already helped residents displaced by Hurricane Irene last year. I urge all those whose homes have become inhabitable due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy to use this service.
The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) is urging all property providers to list available rental housing on PAHousingSearch.com. The process of listing an available unit takes about 10 minutes, is completely free and can be done online or through a toll-free call center.
Landlords with available housing are asked to log on to www.PAHousingSearch.com or contact the toll-free call center to add properties at 1-877-428-8844.
I urge landlords to help displaced residents by listing their available rental units immediately and help these individuals find safe, affordable housing as they attempt to rebuild following this devastating storm.
Aside from using this online housing locator, displaced residents can work with emergency management officials as Disaster Resource Centers are established in order to identify replacement housing.
PAHousingSearch.com is made possible through funding and support provided by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, the state Department of Public Welfare and Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, and the Professional Affordable Housing Management Association.
