COMING SOON: Take a Loved One to the Doctor Community Health and Wellness Event

I am excited to partner with Tom Joyner and the Tom Joyner Morning Show to bring a very important community health and wellness event to Philadelphia.

Take a Loved One to the Doctor Take a Loved One to the Doctor (TALOTTD)

Take a Loved One to the Doctor (TALOTTD) is a two-day community health event intended to promote health and wellness in the African-American community. The event will be held on October 19 and 20 at Philadelphia’s Liacouras Center located located on the Temple University campus along North Broad Street.

We teamed up with Tom Joyner to help host his signature event Take a Loved One to the Doctor (TALOTTD), which he is bringing to Philadelphia. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to partner and work together to bring you this major health and wellness event.

This massive wellness-focused expo will offer more than 1,000 FREE health screenings for event attendees.

The event, which was developed in 2002 to raise preventive health awareness in the African-American Community, kicks off with a live broadcast of the Tom Joyner Morning Show Friday at 6 a.m. with live musical performances and interviews from today’s top health experts.

At 9 a.m., the health festival opens (both Friday and Saturday), offering attendees FREE dental and medical screenings, as well as tips on fitness, nutrition, beauty, and health related college and career recruitment.

Special expert guests include US Surgeon General, Vice Admiral Regina M. Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A., Dr. Ian Smith, Dr. Ro (Rovenia Brock), the presidents of the National Dental & Medical Associations, actress and fitness Expert AJ Johnson and a host of other celebrities and experts.

On Friday evening at 7 p.m., Joyner is throwing an “Old School” Basement Party with Chubb Rock and Moni Love.

On Saturday evening at 8 p.m., Joyner’s cohort and fellow funnyman J. Anthony Brown will host the “Laughter is the Best Medicine” Comedy Show. To attend this exclusive comedy event, guests must attend the health fair either Friday or Saturday and receive a FREE pass that’s good for two tickets.

National event sponsors include Bayer, Crest, Denny’s, Legacy For Health, Novo Nordisk, NeighborWorks America, Susan G. Komen CIRCLE OF PROMISE, The Ohio State University Medical Center and WalMart/Relion Prime.

We must continue to raise awareness about health and wellness in the African-American community and encourage ourselves and our loved ones to be proactive about their health by making appointments to visit health professionals.

The Take a Loved One to the Doctor Health Festival is a first time event for Tom Joyner where he is bringing all of his on-air talent into Philadelphia for a concentrated effort. My staff and I have worked diligently with Tom Joyner's staff, E. Steven Collins and the staff at Radio One to plan and implement this targeted campaign to raise health awareness in the community. This event will shine a national spotlight on Philadelphia.

My wife Sheryl and I will appear at the following events during the health festival:

Friday, October 19th

7:15 a.m. - Sky Show, live national broadcast interview with Tom Joyner, Sybil Wilkes & J. Anthony Brown

10:30 a.m. - Press Conference

Saturday, October 20th

12:00 p.m. - Panelist at "State of Our Black Health" Town Hall Forum

Additionally, Sheryl Lee Ralph will serve as a panelist for the "Women's Health Seminar" at 3:00 p.m.
