Global Leadership Academy Needs Your
Help
As many of you are probably
aware, a fire devastated the Global Leadership
Academy Charter School earlier this month. The
school, located at 5151 Warren Street, has been
closed since the five-alarm blaze tore through
its building, destroying everything in its path.
Nothing was able to be salvaged.
Now, the Global Leadership
Academy and its approximately 400 students, from
kindergarten through eighth grade, and 50 staff
members continue to need your help.
It has given me much pride to
represent a district where the community
responded immediately to assist this school.
Some of you donated money and supplies, other
local schools donated computers, books and
papers and nearby grocery stores donated
lunches.
Your generosity has been
overwhelming and yet, this school is still in
dire need of help. For those of you who still
wish to donate, I encourage you to donate supplies for offices,
classrooms, students, and
teachers or make a monetary donation. You can
drop those supplies off at my district office or
mail a check, made out to Global Leadership
Academy Charter School, to my district office.
I know these are difficult,
economic times for so many, and yet, you
continue to find ways to give back.
During the month that we honor Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr., his quote, "Life's most persistent
and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for
others?’” resounds with me. Thank you for doing
for others and giving back to those in need.

donating to the Global Leadership Academy
Charter School, please call Senator Hughes’
